Well Station Drive, Canberra Metro Light Rail

The Canberra light rail network, also known as Canberra Metro, is a light rail system serving the city of Canberra, Australia. The initial 12-kilometre line links the northern town centre of Gungahlin to the city centre (Civic) and has 13 stops. Chelmstone worked in conjunction with Canberra Metro Constructions and John Holland on the Canberra Metro Light Rail Project. Chelmstone manufactured and supplied cautional and directional snow tactile pavers, in addition to Etched 300 x 300 x 40mm paving to all stations.

  • 300 x 300 x 40mm

  • 300 x 300 x 60mm

Chelmstone produced a combination of cautionary or 'hazard' and directional tactile ground surface indicator (TGSI) pavers for the Canberra Metro Light Rail station platforms. Tactile pavers are crucial in ensuring those who have vision impairments can access the stations safely.

   SNOW

  • Luminance Dry - 77.1

  • Luminance Wet - 50.1

Given the colour snow's natural white appearance, it provides great luminance colour contrast against station platforms and other visually bright precast concrete paving. Essential for meeting Australian Standards for access and mobility, AS 1428.4.1-2009.

Chelmstone's 300 x 300 x 60mm Snow Tactile Pavers (TGSI)

Chelmstone has over 25 years' experience producing precast concrete pavers for its clients and are a preferred supplier of Tactile Ground Surface Indicators (TGSI's) to councils throughout Australia and major infrastructure projects.

Chelmstone produces custom made precast concrete paving surfaces to suit all our clients requirements. Canberra Metro Constructions also procured Chelmstone's Etched finished 300 x 300 x 40mm snow pavers to complement its hazard and directional tactile pavers. Etched pavers create a more natural surface complexion, exposing small pieces of aggregate, highlighting the pavers colour and finish.

Quality material sourcing is integral to ensure Chelmstone's pavers exceed clients expectations, ensuring long lasting durability and maintenance of the products luminance.

Chelmstone sourced high-grade colour matching aggregate for Canberra Metro's tactile paving requirements, ensuring any wearing would not result in a change in luminance and the product would stand the test of time.
