Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Tactile Indicators
Chelmstone stocks premium grade fibre reinforced polymer/fibreglass tactile indicators with UV stabilisers.
Chelmstone stocks premium-grade Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) tactile indicators, also commonly referred to as fibreglass tactiles or resin tactiles, with UV stabilisers for enhanced durability and long-term outdoor performance.
Made to conform with Australian Standards set out in AS 1428.4.1, including a P5 slip rating suitable for any application. The surface-mounted plate format makes this product suitable for retrofit applications across a range of substrates, including concrete and tiled surfaces.
Chelmstone’s Fibre Reinforced Polymer tactile indicators are available in a range of standard colours, including white, black and yellow, making them suitable for a wide variety of commercial, public infrastructure and retrofit applications requiring compliant luminance contrast outcomes.

CAUTIONAL FIBRE REINFORCED POLYMER TACTILE DIMENSIONS
Cautional (Warning) tactiles (TGSIs) indicate to those with a visual impairments of an approaching hazard. Cautional TGSIs provide a ‘message’ to pause and consider a change in direction. Chelmstone's FRP/Fibreglass Cautional (Warning) Tactiles come in a 600 x 300 x 2mm dimensional pad. Some common areas which require the installation of cautional (warning) tactiles include:
-
Stairways
-
Escalators
-
Edge of carriageways
-
Ramps
-
Railways Platforms
-
Bust and Tram stops
-
Driveways
-
Overhead hazards

DIRECTIONAL FIBRE REINFORCED POLYMER TACTILE DIMENSIONS
Directional tactiles (TGSIs) give people with visual impairments directional orientation in open spaces where there are insufficient cues such as handrails or walls. Directional tactiles designate the route to be taken to avoid a hazard. Chelmstone's FRP/Fibreglass Directional Tactiles come in a 600 x 300 x 2mm dimensional pad. Some common areas which require the installation of directional tactiles include:
-
A mid-block kerb ramp or street crossing
-
Public transport access point
-
Point of entry to a significant public facility

SPECIFICATION CODES

Below are Chelmstone's architectural specification codes for our range of size and colour tactiles.
LUMINANCE CALCULATOR
This Calculator uses the open-source Bowman-Sapolinski Equation as stipulated in AS/NZS 1428.4.1:2009
Enter your lowest wet or dry luminance reflective value (LRV) first into the luminance calculator, followed by your corresponding higher wet or dry luminance reflective value (LRV) next.
If the luminance contrast achieved is great than 30%, the colours are suitably integrated and contrast minimums have been achieved.
